Finding Balance in the City That Never Sleeps
Living and performing in New York City is an exhilarating journey filled with vibrant energy, but it also comes with its own set of challenges. With a jam-packed schedule of rehearsals, performances, and creative collaborations, finding balance can feel like a juggling act. Here’s a glimpse into my world and how I navigate the busy streets of NYC while staying true to my influences and passion for education.
The Rhythm of My Schedule
My days often begin early and stretch late into the evenings. From morning vocal warm-ups to rehearsals at venues across the city, every moment is an opportunity to hone my craft. I love diving deep into the songs I perform, pulling from a mix of genres that have shaped my musical journey. Influences like Elvis, Sinatra, Jeff Buckley, and more modernly Coldplay which inspire me, and keep me grounded in my musical roots.
Balancing performances with personal growth is crucial as well. I often carve out time to explore new music, attend workshops, or collaborate with fellow artists. This constant climb keeps my performances fresh and my mind and body sharp.
The Power of Education
One of my core beliefs is the importance of giving back through education. Whether it's leading a workshop for aspiring performers or engaging in community outreach, I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned in NYC, which offers an incredible platform for this—its diverse arts scene is a canvas where new talent can flourish and grow.
I often find myself in classrooms or community centers, mentoring young artists. These interactions not only enrich their journeys but also remind me of the joy that sparked my passion in my early years.
Navigating NYC's Pulse
Living in NYC means embracing the chaos while finding moments of calm. I’ve learned to prioritize self-care amidst the hustle. Whether it’s enjoying a quiet stroll in Central Park or savoring a coffee in a café, these little breaks recharge my creativity and revitalize my spirit.
Creative networking is another necessity of my life in a city which is filled with so many incredible artists and creatives with each conversation opening new doors to collaborate and inspire, reminding me that we are all part of a larger community as a whole.
Balancing life with the demands of performance, education, and self care is no small feat, but it’s a journey I wouldn’t trade for anything. New York City continunally challenges me, inspires me, and ultimately shapes me as an artist. I’m grateful for the opportunities to learn, teach, and share my passion with others every single day.
With Love,
Hamilton Paul
